Mine was spent listening to an immigrant stumble through historical facts that she knew nothing about in second-rate french. The students kept correcting her pronunciation. She called class off four hours short on account of her inability to teach. It would have been nice to have an interesting teacher for once.Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17496193808385291916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1503729408884755809.post-37646465445842834972008-11-25T02:54:00.000-06:002008-11-25T02:54:00.000-06:00They didn't do integration classes when I was goin...They didn't do integration classes when I was going through my paperwork and maybe thats a bad thing, after hearing how interesting your day was! I spent years saying that I had to get myself a history book about France because my total lack of knowledge was such an embarrassement. I finally found the perfect book just a few weeks ago- so perfect that I would recommend it to all foreigners in France. 'The Discovery of France' by Graham Robb. Its not a typical, chronological type history book but organizes the story of France under subjects (like 'The Development of the French Language', 'Mapping the French Territory', 'Relationships with Animals' (actually, that makes it sound dead boring. I'm doing such a bad job of selling this book...). Honestly, it was so fascinating that I read it non-stop til I had finished.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05668499644450303275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1503729408884755809.post-2812173114557149952008-11-24T21:20:00.000-06:002008-11-24T21:20:00.000-06:00I didn't know you had to do that as a foreigner/ f...I didn't know you had to do that as a foreigner/ future French. Nothing similar in Canada...

It reminds me a bit of the "journée d'appel à la défense" that I had to attend when I turned 18. However, mine was boring and the colonel or whatever was his rank kept on yelling at us.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
